If they are discovered in the Spider they get tossed, no matter how much we would like to dust them. And that only because the Queen decided to allow Vamps to live (unlive?) in the city. Surely she must not have been of right mind when that happened, which, suspiciously enough, allowed that ass, Kyle, to worm his way into the palace.
Our lore, for the VK as a whole, is that we do not trust, do not like, Undead of any sort. Top of this list is Vampires of ALL types, tied with Lichs. After that we have Ghouls, zombies, skeletons, flesh golems, and any other critter of that ilk.
Ghosts are not exactly undead, as they are in theory, the spirits of the deceased that have not managed to get collected by Drinal. However, a ghost cannot be part of the crew as they are dead.
Wraiths, this one is trickier, and is the loophole that has been, and still is, being used with reluctant permission. If a Wraith is using their original body, but the spirit is somehow detached, or not attached firmly, then really there is not much we can do about that as the body is living, and there is a spirit. If they are in a created body, then the same, as people are using magical cloning (i.e. Druidic regeneration) to assist in the resurrection of a previously fully deceased character. I am not comfortable with this, but I have allowed it. Be warned that future requests to be a Wraith will be weighed heavily not in favor. They are not supposed to be common as good guys.
A Wraith that is stealing bodies from other living individuals and either killing the original spirit, enslaving it, subsuming it, or driving it into hiding, is NOT allowed.
By not allowed I am saying not allowed into the VK as a member.
All of those, other than the Wraiths, would not be allowed to enter, or stay in, the Mansion due to the wards. The only exception is Haunt, which we decided predates the current wardstone and came with the Mansion. That entity is now a part of the protections when riled. We do not, at this time, have a ward against body stealing Wraiths.
OOC'ly, if any of the above disguise themselves, they are allowed into the Spider and we will pretend we cannot detect them. The Spider has no wards against Undead. Nor do we have a specific ward against hostile spells. If an Undead reveals themselves, then we IC'ly toss them, or if they really want it, they are dusted.
This has been the operating procedure for years.
How much clearer do we need to be?
Individuals may have their own opinions about certain Undead, as long as they respect the Lore and the rules. Slipps certainly has a few Vamps that she sort of friendly with, even if as a whole she does not trust, or like them. That does not mean that she wants them in the Tavern, but she also recognizes that at times one must do what needs to be done, no matter how distasteful.
Recently we encountered a soul vampire. He was a living Teir, but had been cursed to siphon off soul essence if touched. While that practice is not something we usually condone, in his case it was recognized that he had tried to harm no one, and was in fact in need of help. Nor did he kill anybody, or even cause serious lasting harm to those that touched him. Soul vamps are supposed to be rare, but I am sure there are others out there wearing this snowflake. The living ones will be dealt with the same as Wraiths, evil ones die, those needing help are helped.
